ZSL Field Conservation
ZSL runs conservation programmes in Britain and over 30 countries worldwide.
The conservation of wild animals and their natural habitats is fundamental to our mission. Working with local communities to conserve their environment and promote sustainability.
ZSL focuses its conservation work around seven distinct programmes. A variety of projects are underway within each of the seven programme areas at any one time.
EDGE
The EDGE of Existence programme is an innovative ZSL research and conservation initiative that focuses on the world’s most Evolutionarily Distinct and Globally Endangered EDGE species. Find out more here.
Bushmeat and Forests

Marine and Freshwater

Relocating rhinos to the road to recovery,
3 October 2008
A major initiative by ZSL, Kenyan Wildlife Service and conservation partners to move rhinos from over-stocked fenced sanctuaries into large unfenced areas has begun.
