Halloween Hide’n’Freak
Dates: 25 Oct - 2 Nov 2008
Times: All Day
Just like you dress up in disguise at Halloween, animals big and small use lots of different and sometimes freaky disguises to protect themselves from predators or to help them catch prey. From the stripes on a zebra to the spots on a ladybird, they’re all experts at camouflage!
March of the Giant Insects
Visit ZSL London Zoo this October half term and you’ll have the chance to meet seven foot high beetles and bugs, who will be roaming around daily in the 'March of the Giant Insects' parade. You’ll be able to find out all you ever wanted to know about these 'mini beasts' gone large.
Megabugs
After meeting a ‘praying mantis’ face-to-face, make sure you don’t miss more incredible invertebrates in the biggest 'Megabugs' ever, giving you the opportunity to meet and touch some of ZSL's most interesting insects. You can enter the weird and wonderful world of bugs through our explainer led demonstration.
Be closer than you ever thought possible and get under the skin of these amazing animals, literally! We’re letting you experience life as a giant millipede or a hissing cockroach by getting right into the spirit of Halloween... dressing up! Put on a human size creepy-crawly costume, and become a bug!
Interactive storytelling
Once the insect excitement has died down, come and relax in our giant tipi for some interactive storytelling. Don't expect to be sitting down for long though! The ZSL London Zoo explainer team will lead you through a thrilling Hide’n’Freak Halloween story where you will be the star.
In addition to this there will be two Halloween themed 'Animals in Action' shows, a Gorilla talk and a chance to see the Peckish Penguins tucking into their lunch. Halloween at ZSL London Zoo is not to be missed!
