More than 40,000 species are at risk of extinction. From the world’s most trafficked wild mammal, the pangolin, to the pygmy three-toed sloth dying out as their habitat is destroyed, and so many more species, often overlooked but at risk of disappearing forever.

200 years of conservation
We’re ZSL, an international conservation charity driven by science. We're a powerful movement of conservationists from different countries and disciplines, working together to save animals on the brink of extinction and those who could be next.
In 2026 ZSL will be 200 years old, marking two centuries of discovery, pioneering, inspiring and delighting through science, conservation and our two conservation Zoos, London and Whipsnade.
The proceeds from your regular donation are not restricted to conservation of specific species, so you can be sure your donation is going to where the funding is most needed. We are very careful about how we spend money to ensure the best possible outcome for the wildlife that need our support most.
