Abdel graduated from the University of Kinshasa with a master's degree in biotechnology and then from the University of Montpellier with a specialised Master's degree in Engineering in Ecology and Biodiversity Management.
He worked for more than 13 years in the implementation of conservation programs in Central and West Africa with African Wildlife Foundation (Democratic Republic of Congo and in Cameroon), IUCN PACO with CITES MIKES project in the WAP landscape (Benin, Burkina Faso and Niger) and then with the WWF Cameroon, in technical support for the management of protected areas, before joining ZSL.
His passions include nature, reading a variety of Harry Potter novels and genre films or historical events. He is also interested in wildlife photography.
