Pangolin research
Carly is our Pangolin Technical Specialist. She also serves as the Programme Officer and Red List Authority Co-ordinator for the IUCN Species Survival Commission (SSC) Pangolin Specialist Group.
In her role as our Pangolin Technical Specialist, Carly supports the development and implementation of projects to research and conserve pangolins, the world’s most trafficked wild mammals, in Asia and Africa. These include monitoring and protecting wild pangolin populations through fieldwork, anti-poaching patrols, community engagement and law enforcement.
Carly’s contributions to the Pangolin Specialist Group include providing technical, logistical, communications and administrative support to the group’s Co-Chairs, Steering Committee and members. She also coordinates regular assessments of the conservation status of the eight extant species of pangolin for publication on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
