ZSL Library & Archives holds an extensive collection relating to the history of ZSL, zoology and conservation, and one of our core roles is to engage new and existing audiences through using this material to inspire and inform them.
ZSL Library is as old as the Zoological Society of London itself (founded 1826), and as a result, we have a collection of rare books (some predating our founding), archival material, and artwork, which I feel rival other organisations of a similar age. Something Emma Milnes is very keen to do is raise awareness of this incredible resource and show another side of ZSL which many people may not be aware of.
Emma's daily role largely involves supporting staff and external researchers with their enquiries and giving tours of the collection, but she is eager to hear from communities or individuals who have more creative ideas about how to make use of the Library & Archives.
